Canterbury Earthquake September 4th 2010
St John's Church has been a pillar of the community for nearly 100 years, but it is now left in ruins. The church spire has partially collapsed, the organ is in splinters, the archways are collapsing and there are severe structural weaknesses throughout the church.
Work has now begun to ensure our beautiful church is weatherproof and safe.

Cameron Carter and his mother are on a mission. Shaken, not scared, he knew what to do. Good luck to Cameron and Bridget as they walk from Darfield to Christchurch on Labour Day to raise funds for St John's. If you would like to sponsor Cameron please contact us.
The fair was a fantastic community event. TV 3 paid us a visit.
Jessica Rowe reported, A quake-stricken community's quest to raise $3 million began today with the annual church fair. Hororata needs the money to repair its historic church; it's a daunting amount and raising it is a daunting task. But big things start small... The community pulled together and we had fun in the sun and raised money for our church rebuilding.
TV One came too, along with so many others
